Karen & Matt’s Wedding at the Glen Sanders Mansion

Karen and Matt had their delightful wedding at the Glen Sanders Mansion in Scotia, NY. It was my first time in this part of upstate New York (near Schenectady), and I enjoyed every bit of it!

Karen’s purple color palette was evident throughout the event, and was a refreshing choice. Karen’s birdcage veil and feather fascinator were absolutely gorgeous (as was the bride!).

Can you spot Karen?

The beautiful bride is all smiles while the ladies add the train to her gown

I love how Karen’s girls are so attentive!

The beautiful summery blooms had purple accents which coordinated well with the bridesmaid dresses.

Just before going to see Matt for the “reveal”

One of the things I love about Jewish weddings is that the bride and groom have the chance to see each other (to sign the ketubah) before the ceremony. I love the look on Matt’s face as sees Karen for the first time.

Glen Sanders Mansion is right on the Mohawk River, which makes for a beautiful backdrop for portraits.

Love these succulent boutonnieres

Karen had two adorable little fairies serving as flower girls 😉

Once the ketubah was signed, it was time for the ceremony, which incorporated many many beautiful and wonderful traditions from a number of cultures, making the ceremony a sweet and unique reflection of themselves as a couple.

Matt’s dad gives him a hug before the start of the ceremony.

I love how Karen’s dad is looking right at Matt, his future son-in-law…

…and the look of love on Karen’s face as she says her vows to Matt.

This quick moment right after the ceremony is always my favorite of the day – the “second” kiss, right after the ceremony, one of the few quiet moments between bride and groom (shot with a telephoto lens so they can have their moment in peace!). This is my favorite image from Karen and Matt’s wedding:

Karen and Matt wanted all of their family to be in a single group shot after the ceremony. It took a bit of work, but was well worth the effort:

Once the sun went down, the moonlight and the patio lights made for a nice warm glow during the cocktail hour. How cute are these two?

Then it was time for the reception, held in the ballroom of the Mansion

First dance as husband and wife

This looks like so much fun!
(My Catholic husband not-so-secretly wishes we could have danced the Hora to Hava Nagila at our reception)

I loved this fun moment between Karen and her dad during the father/daughter dance. Karen and Matt’s families were all so joyous and full of cheer!

Karen and Matt and their friends and family danced the night away. It was quite a celebration!

Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your special day, Karen and Matt. It was truly a joy to be a part of it!

Thanks so much Heather! I just googled the Stockade district – looks really cool! Reminds me a lot of Old Town Alexandria (where I lived after college, and met my husband). I'll have to get back up there sometime and check it out!
